At more serious pathological stages, they are labeled as autoimmune diseases - such as insulin-dependent or juvenile diabetes, lupus, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (Lou Gehrig's disease), Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer disease, and even AIDS.
