Silver is impregnated into the carbon to ensure that bacteria does not grow. A Note on the Rejuvenator water filter and fluoride:
The ionizer removes approximately 50% of the fluoride.  Since fluoride is an acidic mineral carrying a positive charge, about half of it is removed from the alkaline side to the acidic side of the ionized water. This will reduce the amount of fluoride found in the alkaline water, which is the water we drink. Minerals are not removed from water through normal filtration.  WaterWorks4u does offer special fluoride pre-filters (Alum based) to remove all of the fluoride that install either under the sink or on the countertop. Gold Fox Replacement Filter

A one-micron silver-impregnated carbon fiber (not granulated) filter which removes chlorine, lead, benzene, trihalomethanes, radioactive particles, particulate (suspended solids), cryptosporidium, parasites (cysts), waterborne flu viruses, E-coli and other bacteria along with other harmful carcinogenic organic chemicals from tap water. Silver is impregnated into the carbon to insure that bacteria does not grow on the carbon. Since it is imbedded, or impregnated, into the carbon there is no chance of the silver leaching into the water and being consumed. Even if it was consumed, silver is NOT toxic to the body.

RainShow'r CQ-1000 Shower Filter Replacement     

The Rainshower CQ-1000 uses 14.5 ounces of "Enhanced" KDF 55, crystalline quartz, and special polyester sediment trapping material (Poly-flow) to remove between 90-95% of Chlorine.  Rainshower's unique "Enhanced" KDF removes more Chlorine than other brands of shower filters.  The sun dried quartz crystals help to "energize" the water by reducing the water's surface tension.  This allows for an increase in the sudsing and lathering of soaps and shampoos.  The water has a "lighter" feel, similar to the that of softened water.  Replaceable cartridge lasts 6-9 months for a family of 4 or an estimated 15,000 - 20,000 gallons of usage.
